Update SCCM 2012 Admin Console to SP1 CU1

Purpose: You have installed SCCM SP1, and now you need to update your Admin Consoles!

Updating the SCCM 2012 system with any major update that includes fixes to the Admin Console – generally means that you need to update all the Admin Consoles that you have in your environment to meet the version of your servers. In SP1 CU1, you can still use the old Admin Console after the update, so there is no rush to update all of the Admin Consoles.

Installing SCCM SP1 CU1 Admin Console update

The following guide seems to work on any CU that has come for SCCM or will come in the near future. During the CU1-update you were asked if you wanted to create installation packages for the Admin Consoles, and hopefully you answered yes. However, if you did not answer yes, you can find the source for the packages from your SCCM installation folder, as presented:

Wrap them up for a package, or use the generated packages. You can now create a third device collection for the SP1 CU1 -Admin Consoles. The one big difference is between SP1 and CU1 is that SP1 was a full client installation package (ConsoleSetup.exe), while CU1 is literally an update (.msp). That means you can use standard MSI/MSP installation switches while you work on the MSP-file.
